The last remnant of a continuous area of Atlantic Forest in Brazil and home to a number of quilombola communities, the Ribeira Valley, is unknown to many people.
The Social and Environment Institute (ISA) invites you to visit the Ribeira Valley and one of its communities, the Quilombo Ivaporunduva. The Ribeira Essential website, with the participation of the designer Marcelo Rosenbaum, shows you the way of life, the quilombola routine and it’s a unique opportunity to meet the quilombo of Ivaporunduva. The walk along the website gives you a better understanding of the socio-environmental richness of this region and the traditional peoples that live there, as well as giving more information about the fauna, flora, cuisine of the region and many other things.
Throughout the visit you will be able to get more involved with the Ribeira Valley: the petition that is here is the opportunity for you to support the quilombolas' struggle for the titling of their lands and the initiatives to promote sustainable development of the communities. Ribeira Vale thanks for your visit, your support, your attention.
