I love nature and strongly believe in the one earth concept, sustaining life on the earth, and no harm to nature. I explore nature, documenting precious knowledge, and sharing the stories of nature with the world.
Lactoferrin is the second major protein after casein found in camel milk. Lactoferrin increases the shelf life of the milk, therefore the camel milk with a higher content of lactoferrin (62–651 mg kg−1) has a longer shelf life without any external support.
Camel is an Amazing Companion Animal
The last speaker on the panel was Layla Donders, who traveled more than 2,500 kilometers with a camel caravan. The two journeys led her from Damascus in Syria to Teheran in Iran and back into the UAE and Oman. She recounted the time of identifying the camels for her journey, back in Syria as a critical time and outlined the relationship with the animals as the most critical part. She now lives near Muscat in Oman. Her oldest camel is now 28 years old and was part of the long journeys.

"Salalah is capital of Dhofar mountainous region in Oman. Salalah is the habitat of a rich biodiversity (plants & animals and soil microbiome. Camels in Salalah are especially distinct as locals raise them for milk, meat, and wool. These creatures are well-adapted to withstand both the hot and dry desert, as well as the rainy season. You will notice huge mounds of Termites in the region. Termites play a vital role in breaking down woody material into compost for the enrichment of the soil and some animals (gut microbiome in camels). They form large piles of dirt, which camels sometimes consume to aid in digestion. For a more in-depth understanding of Shalala’s features, pictures and other explanations are available for your perusal and edification."
